Ovarian cancer is a condition in which
abnormal cells grow and multiply rapidly in the ovaries, forming a tumor that can invade and
destroy nearby healthy tissues. Ovarian cancer often develops silently, making early
detection challenging.
The female reproductive system includes two ovaries, located on either side of the uterus.
Each ovary is about the size of an almond and plays a vital role in reproduction by
producing eggs (ova) and the hormones estrogen and progesterone, which regulate the
menstrual cycle and support pregnancy.
Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential for improving outcomes in ovarian
cancer.
