Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD)
Overview – HSDD
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) refers to a woman’s chronic or ongoing
lack of interest in sex, to the point that it causes personal distress or affects
her relationships.
Causes – HSDD
HSDD is a complex condition with multiple possible causes. In many cases, more
than one physical, emotional, or psychological factor may contribute to reduced
sexual desire.
Diagnosing HSDD
The main sign of HSDD is reduced sexual interest. However, because sexual desire
varies from woman to woman, there is no specific test or set level that confirms
the diagnosis.
Treating HSDD
Treatment options include lifestyle changes, counseling, hormone management, and
medical therapy. Since causes can be mixed, a combination of treatments often works best.
