There are Mainely Two types of dysmenorrhea:-
A)Primary:-
1. It is menstrual pain that is not a symptom of an underlying gynecological disorder but rather is related to it in the late teens and early twenties. Fortunately, for many women, the problem disappears as they get older, especially after pregnancy.
Although it can be painful and sometimes debilitating for a short time, it is not harmful.
2. Primary dysmenorrhea is the name given to frequently occurring menstrual cramps that occur over and over again. The pain usually starts a day or two before your period or when the bleeding starts. due to this, you may experience Back pain, stomach pain, and pain in the thigh.
Secondary:-
Secondary dysmenorrhea is painful menstruation that is often associated with pelvic pathology.
It is menstrual pain that is generally related to some type of Gynecological disease; Most of these disorders can be easily treated with medication or surgery. they affect women in adulthood.
there is a possibility that a person may suffer from primary dysmenorrhea also develop Secondary dysmenorrhea and more pain because of it.
1) Being under 20 years of age.
2) A family history of painful periods
3) Smoking
4) Seavy bleeding with irregular menstruation
5) Never had a baby before
6) puberty before age 11
Causes of Secondary Dysmenorrhea:-
An ovarian cyst or tumor
The use of an intrauterine device (IUD)
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
Endometriosis
A sexually transmitted infection (STI)
The main symptom of dysmenorrhea is pain. symptoms of secondary Dysmenorrhea may occur earlier than primary Dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea usually lasts longer.
Common symptoms for Dysmenorrhea:-
- Low back pain
- Nausea
- Pain in the lower
- abdomen
- Vomiting
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Weakness
- Fainting
- Pain radiating down the legs.
- Stomach Pain
Women Who have a painful period have consulted with doctors as soon as possible and with advice try natural ways to deal with it .also medications if required. there are many ways in Ayurveda that can reduce pain or eliminate it if possible According to the type of dysmenorrhea.
Following some are the ways:-
- Allow plenty of rest
- Drink more water
- Yoga
- Acupuncture and Acupressure
- Relaxation or Breathing exercises
- Do gentle exercises such as Stretching, Walking
Massage - Hold a heat pillow or hot water bottle on your stomach or lower back
- Take a warm bath.
